Your Thoughts?

So, I don’t know what to do. It’s become increasingly obvious that, for one reason or another, I am fairly terrible at updating this blog. I don’t know… I think it has to do with the fact that sitting at a computer has begun to seem increasingly burdensome to me. It probably also doesn’t help that updating the blog always feels like a massive task that takes a lot of time and effort. I’m sure it also has something to do with a lack of structure from day to day.

In addition, it appears that I seem to get distracted easily when online. Case and point, 25 minutes elapsed between in the space between the end of the last paragraph and the beginning of this one.

Any suggestions on how I can get better at this?

I hear you chief, its the main reason i don’t blog.

    Suggestion:
In your travels, i remember you scoring an iPod touch, (I think)…
Does it have voice recording ability.
maybe you can just chatter away whenever a thought comes up and post the audio rather than typing.
i find replying is far easier than starting a thread.
having said that, people can still reply via this system and you can in turn reply via the same system.

i forgot to add, the magic of the above, is you can chatter any time for how ever long you like. it also doesn’t really matter if it takes you a week to posting it up on the web. there is no need to try and remember what you were thinking, all that gold is stored right there in your hands. your blog is quicker, more flexible and hopefully less choresome.
(i made that word up just for you chief!)

Leon’s idea is what I was going to suggest – either that or writing down kernels of what you want to say when the ideas occur, then putting them all together later. As far as having a lack of structure, you probably don’t want to plan out your whole day, but you could most likely stick to the same 1/2 hour period every day – combine that with your written/spoken notes, and you’d be golden. Remember how your grandpa used to go out and putter around every day for about an hour or so – didn’t seem like he couldn’t get anything done, but somehow he managed to paint porches, make toys, create gigantic gardens – it’s the whole tortoise and the hare thing!

I think you need to just get yourself together. Try this thing called self-discipline.

Also, you will write when you have something burning to say to internet world. In the mean time, I’m sure you are currently saying a heck-of-a-lot more in a face-to-face fashion. You know, being back in Denver and all.

p.s. I’ll still read it even if there is a lot of time elapsed between posts, and I’m not the only one.

Do I smell a video blog coming on…?
P.S. – if you do capitalize on the writing bits down all day long – do it on your ipod touch or a computer if you can in a word doc or something of the like, then you can copy and paste!
And/or – if you type out your sermons, post some of those – people would love to read them, and it’s work you’ve already done.
Lastly, teach Ronan to type, and dictate to him!

    My best thoughts come:

    when driving
when in the shower (not a good spot)
    when doing dishes

I write down notes when I can. IF I can find my (Liann’s) recorder, I record them. Later I go and put finger to the keyboard.

You have much to share. Ask other bloggers what they do?

Getting Rich Slowly schedules time to write. That is time to ‘work’. Don’t know what others do.

I will find out soon, I suppose.

Here are some ideas for the blog (now that ive actually visited it)
The “I” phone idea was mentioned…

also try a lap top… you can record your thoughts anywhere and post them up when you get near free wii fi….

there is also voice recognition software that will convert your speach to words… im not sure how much it costs but i beleve its in the 2-300 dolar range. expensive but not completely out of reach.

also if you like i can ask you about when i see you to bring it forwar so you can deal with it or get organised about it as you see approriate.

Lois, thanks for your thoughts. I don’t think this is about me at all. I am just trying to figure out what is best for me to do and also how to overcome my weakness. It is encouraging and challenging to hear that others I don’t even know about are reading as well.

Ben, lets talk about those strategies in person soon.
